She was probably included in the census of 1837 & 1840 for Belfast Academy Grant, Ludlow ME, where the "head-of-house" name was identified while other house hold occupants were enumerated by age group rather than name. In the 1850 national census for Houlton Me she was listed by name with the Smith family, apparently as a border. She was then 17 years old.

From the publishers "blurb" for the book "CASEY'S LAW" by Al Casey: "One of the most successful and original American businessmen of our time, Al Casey is a no-nonsense turnaround specialist who loves nothing more than big challenges. As president of the Times Mirror Corporation, he was instrumental in taking that West coast company and turning it into a multifaceted media giant. As chairman of American Airlines for eleven years, he took the ailing aviation giant - heavily in debt and losing money when he became CEO early in 1974 - and made it into the highly profitable, preeminent company it is today. As postmaster general he attacked the problems of the country's largest government agency and left it leaner, more motivated, truly competetitive, and both efficient and prifitable. When the savings and loan debacle unfolded in the late 1980s, AlCasey was named chairman of the Resolution Trust Corporation, where many maintain that his deft handling of the disaster saved this country from a depression that risked being far bigger, and far more disastrous globally, than the depression of 1929.

In this facinating book Al Casey tells his latter-day Horatio Alger story. He relates with great charm and wit the saga of his long and varied career, and offers practical advise on where and how American business needs to simplify and focus if it is to maintain its position as global leader in the twenty-first century."
