Sea captain, Deer Isle ME; he followed the sea, started as a cabin boy, rose to command his own ship as a sea captain, m: into the Haskell family (sea faring folk) from Deer Isle ME, and was thereafter affectionately known as Captain Peter.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two at the Dunn Funeral Home for Peter J Haggerty, age 74, whose death Thursday, followed a short illness at his home in Portland ME. The Rev Robert O Blake of the First Church of Houlton officiated and burial will be in Evergreen Cem. He was b: in Littleton, July 25 1888, son of the late Charles & Mary (Gillen ) Haggerty. He was a resident of Houlton for a great many years and served for as time as a deputy sheriff. He was a former liquor inspector for the Maine State Liquor Commission located in Caribou ME. He was a member of the State Street Congr. Church in Portland. He was also a member of the Caribou Lions Club. In addition to his wife, the former Mary Savage, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs Jean Grant, Presque Isle ME"
